Lacie Porsche 500GB USB External Hard Drive is Top Drawer!

Want to get a great external hard drive? I bought my Lacie USB 500GB external hard drive, designed by Porsche apparently, over 1 year ago and it continues to rock.

It has worked flawlessly since I got it on sale from Future Shop. I use it as my data drive, not just a backup drive, so it's working all the time. It doesn't have heat problems like some other drives and it is silent. I haven't had even one bad sector.

The design by Porsche is a little strange to advertise since it looks like a silver brick that I could have designed. One drawback that I can think of is that it requires power from an outlet. Most external hard-drives do but some will take power from the USB port. I would prefer one less cable, but since I use it on the desktop it is a very minor caveat.

I will definitely purchase another one if I find it on sale as a backup drive. Since I know this one works so well I wouldn't gamble on a different brand (such as the Comstar Platinum External 500GB that burned another user of this site).
